Managing Editor — Blending Journalism and Community
Patagonia and neighboring towns are rural gems lying between beautiful mountain ranges in the Sky Islands region of southeast Arizona. We value our relaxed, rural lifestyle; deep historical roots in ranching, natural resources and the arts; and friendly, involved community focus. Since its founding in 2009, the Patagonia Regional Times has been central to what makes our area so special and deeply appreciated. Your opportunity as Managing Editor is to continue that tradition and to lead editorial functions into the next era of service to our communities. This role combines editorial leadership, hands-on reporting and editing, community engagement and organizational collaboration. You will guide coverage, support staff and volunteer writers, strengthen the PRT’s presence in the community and help ensure that our journalism remains independent, nonpartisan and rooted in local needs.

Who We Are
The PRT is a nonprofit newsroom serving the communities of Patagonia, Sonoita, Elgin, and Canelo. We produce a FREE monthly print edition 10 times a year, a weekly e newsletter, and breaking-news e-alerts. Our estimated readership, including the industry’s pass-along rate, is 5,520. Our annual budget is $190,000 from grants, donations and sponsors. It supports a paid staff of four, three of whom are part-time. We are open to all views, focused on local issues, grounded in community perspectives and needs, and committed to providing a platform for community education and engagement.
