Job Summary/Description:

The Executive Producer will lead a team of producers, reporters, photographers & anchors to deliver promotable, compelling, and well-written newscasts as well as online content. This person will work closely with the News Director, Assistant ND, Managing Editor & Digital Director to develop and implement strategies to improve product and raise ratings while managing resources and containing overtime. In addition, the successful candidate will:

·         Exercise strong news judgment and work closely with reporters & photographers daily to ensure they are pursuing impactful & balanced stories. The EP will also approve reporter scripts.

·         The EP will be aggressive on breaking news and is responsible for updating breaking stories in subsequent newscasts.

·         This person is a visionary who will consistently analyze the totality of the news block (multiple newscasts airing consecutively) to ensure story evolution, limit content repetition & identify promotable content.

·         The EP oversees the producer schedule for their assigned shift and will be part of the weekend on-call rotation.

·         Engage in creative content development following up on viewer submission of story ideas via Facebook, Twitter and other online sources, as well as official sources

·         Motivate staff and encourage “buy in” for station’s news brand, news stories.

Duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

– Oversee the creation, planning, production and daily delivery of live/pre-recorded and studio/field news for a specific day part.

– Strategize and implements key strategies to improve product and ratings.
– Daily collaboration with digital team on online, digital and social opportunities.
– Collaborate with special projects and coverage for in-depth coverage and special events
– Provide consistent producer feedback through monthly newscast reviews.


– Education:    Bachelors in Journalism
– Experience:   2 years experience as Executive Producer or Senior Producer in television news
