Attention Journalists: ABA to offer renowned Poynter elections training

Election season is arguably one of the most difficult tasks for any newsroom to cover. It’s key to democracy and full of complicated, polarizing issues.

The ABA is partnering with Al Tompkins from the well-known Poynter Institute to lead a FREE training for broadcast journalists on July 8 with a simple goal: Help Arizona journalists ask more informed questions and demand more solid answers about five complex issues facing America in the 2022 midterm election cycle.

In addition the Al, the teaching team will include a top expert on health care who testifies before Congress, a Pulitzer Prize-winning immigration reporter and a climate expert from Climate Central.

The event will be hosted at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in downtown Phoenix and will focus on the economy/inflation, immigration, climate change, healthcare and disinformation/truth decay.
