The US Department of Labor has released new guidance for employers about COVID-19 exposure risks and best practices to prevent infection in this vaccinated era. You can read the full guidelines here.

That guidance comes from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the information should be applicable to most Arizona broadcasters:

  • Unless otherwise required by law, most employers no longer need to take steps to protect their fully vaccinated workers who are not otherwise at-risk from COVID-19 exposure.
  • Guidance now focuses only on protecting unvaccinated or otherwise at-risk workers in their workplaces. Employer recommendations include:
-Grant paid time off for employees to get vaccinated
-Instruct unvaccinated workers who are infected to stay home
-Keep physical distancing for unvaccinated workers in communal areas.
-Provide unvaccinated workers with face coverings

Arizona has also recently passed a new law to help businesses combat COVID-19 litigation threats. The ABA commissioned a legal review of this new law to help determine what protections Arizona broadcasters have. In short, this new law protects a station from COVID-19 litigation unless a person can prove that the station has acted with malice. You can read the full legal review here.
