Sports betting in Arizona is now targeted to go live by September 9, opening up a huge ad category for Arizona broadcasters.

Some of you are already starting to get ad inquiries — and the ABA’s best advice is to ask if the requesting group is officially licensed for sports betting by Arizona’s Department of Gaming. That is likely to be your “green light” answer to accept advertising. As of this email, the Arizona Department of Gaming is still finalizing their rules – which means no organizations are currently licensed.

As we shared with you in April, Arizona sports betting was signed into law this spring. HB2772 allows professional and college sports betting at Arizona tribal casinos, at sites owned by pro sports teams, and online. The language of the bill has been protected to allow maximum advertising flexibility thanks to some work from our ABA Lobbyist John Moody.
